The home of compassionate community connections for the Greater Chelan Valley
Cornerstone is home to eight local non-profit relief organizations that coordinate efforts and leverage resources to maximize assistance to struggling, under-resourced area residents. And the need is great.
According to the US Census and WA Superintendent of Public Instruction:
- 68% of our school kids are eligible for free or reduced meals
- 20% of our residents live in poverty
- 13% of area adults are unemployed
- 35% of household incomes are under $35,000
The first phase of Chelan Valley Hope’s project, to purchase the Cornerstone building and create a maintenance reserve account, has been completed. We’re planning a community celebration in February. We’ll begin the process of purchasing the building from the City in early 2016, in accordance with our lease/purchase agreement. Then we’ll turn our attention to Phase 2, renovating the basement. That project will allow us to nearly double our usable space.
PLEASE DONATE NOW. Your generous donations will enable us to continue helping our neighbors in need survive and thrive, not only this year and next, but for generations to come.
